In the market a stylish new SUV with impressive towing capability? Visit our Gunn Buick GMC dealer near Selma, where we offer the 2021 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL in a number of different trim styles, engine sizes, transmission configurations, and so much more! To get an idea of which GMC Yukon will be able to handle all of your towing needs, we have broken down the max towing capabilities and towing features across the entire Yukon lineup.

How Much Can The GMC Yukon Tow?

For the 2021 model year, thanks to its powerful 5.3-liter V-8 motor, towing capability for the GMC Yukon standard and XL impressively increases by more than 20%. With this engine in place, it effectively makes it more powerful than the 6.2-liter V-8, bringing the max towing capacity for standard models to a total of 7,900 pounds -- a 1,400-pound increase compared to the previous edition. As for the rear-wheel-drive GMC Yukon XL, it benefits from a 1,500-pound boost in towing capacity, bringing its max capability to a respective total of 7,800 pounds.

If you’re looking to up the ante even further in terms of towing, however, an available ProGrade Trailering System™ is made available for the 2021 GMC Yukon, which will provide this SUV with a Hitch Guidance System with Hitch View, an Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, a Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert, enhanced cooling radiator, and most importantly, more capability. When this setup is equipped on the 5.3-liter V-8 motor with a rear-wheel drivetrain, max towing figures will hover around an eye-popping 8,400 pounds.
